Cries of a Lonely Girl
Cries of a lonely girl
Three days old
And she knows mother has taken her leave
She sets out for distant lands
Where they don't know
Praying someday her soul will be clean
And her heart aches from the lonliness
But still she goes on
Trying to find her new home
Cries of a lonely boy
Can still be heard
Echoing down through the well of father's soul
He goes to work each day
Like nothing's going on
Another fall and another drink to lean upon
And his heart breaks from the emptiness
But still he goes on
Thinking he's right all along
Cries of a lonely child
One second old
Born into a world that just doesn't know
And my heart weeps for the multitudes
But still we struggle on
Trying to understand what went wrong...
